Aphrael's pilgrimage to Athens-1

At the end of August, my husband and I visited Athens, Greece. I'm going to post more pictures but today just some pictures that were not taken around the ancient ruins.

From my visit to the market to buy some souvenirs.

With the exception of this flower, I thought the flora of the east and west of the Aegean Sea is pretty much the same.

My happy feet at the airport before leaving for Athens. I was so excited.

I said pictures of non-ancient places, but I had to post this. This is what we saw next to the metro station. Apparently, they found these ruins as they were trying to build something here. Funny, the same happens in Istanbul too.

Syntagma Square

It took us a while to get used to the new alphabet. It's kind of weird to feel somewhat illiterate.

One of the first things I did was shake hands with the natives :-) Olive trees were everywhere. They are one of my favorite trees with their petite size and silvery colored leaves. They look especially lovely at night in the moonlight.

The album would not be complete without a sunset photo.
